Receiving Messages in a Collaboration 2.0 environment

Listening is the most critical skill in communication. Paying attention is what builds relationship and connection. Listening is not a passive skill. Listening is about actively engaging with what is being said, as well as the context and the sender. It’s about understanding your own bias and factoring that into your interpretation of the words said. It’s about paying attention to the nuance and medium through which the message is delivered.

All that is true in a 1.0 environment may not necessarily carry over to the virtual world.  Yet, some of the same assessments must be made to accurately interpret the messages that one receives in a 2.0 environment.
